Today marks one week before the midterm election. And the pundits and the purveyors of all knowledge worth knowing, feel that they have truly tapped the pulse of America. As a matter of fact? They outright boast of their abilities of political prestidigitation.
But what do they really know? What are they really capable of? Do they truly have the ability to foresee the political future? Or is their ability limited to that which they can lead people to believe, or guide them to see as reality, through the bending of light through the looking glass?
Many pundits and bloggers and popular media analyst would like us to believe that they have literally cut down and tapped into the life blood vein of the pulse of America. But I believe what they have really accomplished? Is only their limited ability to infuse deadening agents and faux confusion into the lifeblood thinking of Americans.
Its nothing more complicated than the long standing practice of media in America and their continuing efforts to dumb down and force perspectives, via the media shout down and hyperbole of hustle and hucksterism. But does that method continue to work? Is it still a viable tool for the handlers of the America psyche? I don't think so.
The days of father Cronkite and the unrequited love that the media liked to believe that they possessed over all Americans has withered and died in the new age of media. And not unlike millions of Americans, I have chosen to break away from the mainstream infusion of half truths, illusions and outright lies foisted as reality and truth.
The landscape of information in America has changed and the mainstream media is being forced to come to grips with that reality. American dailys are dwindling and dying on the vine. The mainstream media outlets and network news covens, are being exposed for precisely what they are. Americans are beginning to see the light and turn away from the daily spins and indoctrinations.
And this news does not bode well for the likes of corporate liberal media, masquerading as news in America. Perky Katie is fading away after the glitz and celebration of her ascendance to the national news chair. And her brethren at the other networks are not fairing any better. Nor are the managing editors of the prominent daily papers.
Which leads us to our current observations of the coming midterm elections next week. If you watch and read the spinmeisters? The deal is already done. The votes have been cast and the determinations and selections already made. Nancy Pelosi is consulting with her decorators and buying a new wardrobe, in preparation for her new role in congress. Meanwhile Chucky Shumer has of yesterday called the race a final.
Its all a done deal if you listen to the media and their chosen speakers of truth on the liberal left. CNN planned and portrayed their "Broken Government" series to debut this past week. And they tweaked and clipped it all to fit in with their perspective of the way things are and the way things ought to be.
But has America bought into the media glitz once again?
Somehow I don't think so. No more than they did two years ago when the election was all but a sure thing for John Kerry. We all went to sleep that night being sung the lullaby of the brave new world that the liberals were preparing to launch after his ascendancy to the presidency. Only to awake the next morning to the reality that all is not as it seems in the land of Oz, nor down the Carol rabbit hole.
I believe the same will be true come this time next week.
America has not been delusioned or swayed by the recent attempts to make the Mark Foley episode or other media hyperbole into the altered reality of the hyper liberal left. Americans have become too smart. They still watch and read? But they watch and read smarter. And they realize that the issues involved in local elections? Are issues of local concern. Nothing more, nothing less.
I will neither vote for nor against my congressman based upon what Mark Foley either did or didn't do. No more than I will vote either for or against him based upon my personal and political feelings concerning President Bush or the war in Iraq.
I am by nature and history a conservative, but I am not above the time honored principle of voting for or against any candidate. Regardless of party affiliation. Based solely on my personal perceptions and knowledge of any candidate. When an incumbent or potential candidate attempts to get my vote? I actually pay attention. Not to their commercials, but to their records and their ideas and just who is sponsoring them and funding their campaigns. Not unlike many millions of Americans of this new age in my opinion.
And we (aware voters) will not be assuaged by the commercials or the political pitches of those attempting to appeal to the Hollywood and prepubescent mentality that they truly believe drives the election process in America.
The Borg are among us. And they have been for generations. At one point beginning in the late 1960's? They controlled every bit of information that was presented and consumed in America. They reigned supreme and were unchallenged for the past two generations. But times have changed. Too many Americans have awakened from the media drug stupors begun in the 1960's. And they have become aware of the methodology of the egalitarian liberal left and their socialist handlers in America and their socialist brethren in Europe.
Americans are no longer willing or agreeable to socialist media assimilation. Nor are they prepared to be numbed into a zombie like state by those who believe that they are masters of information and information slight of hand. Zogby and the others may believe that they have mined the vein of intellectual prestidigitation and that they are able to prognosticate to the finest degree of definitive analysis concerning the political landscape?
But they learned a valuable and smarting lesson in 2004. They missed it completely. And they are about to learn another lesson similar to the last one in the 2006 midterm elections. As will Shumer and Pelosi and the Clintons.
The Deniacs don't rule the political life blood of America. At least not yet. And more American need to shed the coils of the Borg and their rabidly socialist agenda. Its time once again for America to stand up and stand fast. And I believe they will rise to the challenge.
