The Big three. What's Best For America Now.

http://www.portfolio.com/images/feeds/blogs/uaw%20ford.jpg

A lot of focus and attention have been aimed at the struggling and potentially foundering big three American auto makers, since the election of Barack Obama as president. Before the election, speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi had signaled her intent to call a special lame duck session of congress, in order to pass preemptive legislation, supposedly aimed at the staggering American economy and spawning a new economic stimulus package.. Which is in itself rather ironic IMO, seeing as how both she and Harry Reid have spent the last 8 months as obstructionists to any republican proposal to deal with or address skyrocketing fuel prices. Which have been the undeniable driving force behind both inflation a declining US economy. And now that Gasoline prices have dipped below $2 a gallon, due to the imploding American/global economy? Now Pelosi and Reid want to ride in on their off white stallions and call themselves saving the day.

Ms. Pelosi intends to this week, structure a package in congress, to address the dire straits of the big three auto makers. A rescue plan that we as Americans will be told is a must do piece of legislation. Much like the last one last month, the one that Secretary Paulson now says must be aimed an directed elsewhere from the intended original target of the failed subprime lending arena. Ms. Pelosi's proposal will include....."requiring that the industry meet new fuel-efficiency standards, produce advanced vehicles and restructure to ensure their long-term economic viability." So what does all that really mean?  What it means to this old country boy, is that the liberal socialists in congress are intent on attempting the equivalent of a coup against the big three auto makers.

Surely the surface representation will be that their intent is benign and benevolent, but the reality that lurks behind their desires is not just to save the American auto industry. Their intent is to forever more control it. And that last fatal piece that they have never quite been able to master through previous legislation and environmental mandates? Will finally fall to their control...once they become "partners" with the big three automakers by virtue of their "rescue plan." And once that occurs the failure and control of all remaining American industry will become "fait accompli" to the new American socialist state as being crafted by Barack Obama and his loyal minions in congress..

American unions may have been the first to partially realize Marx's vision of "workers of the world unite?" But somehow I don't think that their descendent's ever envisioned what is now afoot for their legacy or how this was all going to work out in the end. Presently, the American UAW autoworker is making on average, over $88,000 a year in salary and benefits, combined with one of the most far reaching pension and educational benefits packages ever crafted into existence by any union in this country.  Never the mind that the pitched battle between the UAW and the automakers have cost the union over half of it's membership over the past twenty years. The UAW now boasts a little over 600,000 members, down from over 1.3 million twenty years ago. But some means had to be found by management to pay for and fund the demands of the unions. And like the dutiful myrmidons that they are, those UAW workers went along with the reduction in numbers of their membership, just as long as the "goals of the unions" were repeatedly met and exceeded. And that is precisely where they find themselves today. Top heavy in union management and legacy costs for the auto makers, while mired in an economy where the majority are too afraid to by a new car and those that aren't, can't find the financing to pay for the Damn things.

So Ms.Pelosi and other socialist democrats, see this as the grand opportunity to make their play and seize control forever more, American industry at it's grandest representation.....the American auto industry. And keep in mind, while all this is unfolding before your eyes, their secondary plan to unionize the rest of what isn't already union in America will be winding it's way through congress like a juggernaut. That little discussed bill designed to eliminate secret ballots for those attempting to unionize American workers in other industries and businesses. Which by example of the last twenty years should read. "those that are left."

So what happens to America, when the big three auto makers are "rescued" by congress? Well of course congress will assume their position of power and control over all aspects of auto production in this country. Such are the ways and manner of the federal government anytime it is allowed to infect something with federal tax money. There are strings attached and those strings will quickly be found to lead directly back to those "CAFE Standards" enacted originally back in 1975. The standards by which fuel economy and mileage have been determined and permitted for the past thirty years? Are about to get a revamp.

Now that the socialist elite of the democrat party have succeeded in gaining control of both houses and the presidency, their contingency of in house environmental socialists will go after the CAFE standards quickly and re-craft them just as quickly into something that would make Dr. Frankenstein proud. And if the big three American auto makers and the American public buy into this ruse of rescue and latest version of congressional three card monty? Then we are all about to see the fall of American freedom and democracy and the birth of a true socialist revolution in this country.

It has taken them the better part of the past fifty years to accomplish it, but they have finally hobbled the lumbering American giants of industry that propelled the world into the most beneficial period of human excellence in the last 2000 years. But now the bill for our laxity and failure to be good stewards of our efforts and accomplishments has come due. And while we were lax and enjoying our hard fought successes, the enemy was busily digging beneath the walls and the parapets so costly earned for this nation in the mid 1940's.

And now it is all but too late for us to do much but sit back and enjoy the ride and watch the circus as it unfolds. God help us all.The best thing that could happen right now, is if the big three were allowed to fail and enter into bankruptcy. That way, they could shed the coils of the UAW and negotiate earnestly for their return to prominence, while salvaging both the industry and the jobs of potentially as many as 3-5 million Americans. But the Pelosi's and the Reid's and the Obama's will have none of that. These evil corporations must be punished and forced to the yolk and squeezed of every last drop of life. And if tens of millions of Americans must suffer in the interim to accomplish that? Or this country as we know it must cease to exist? Then so be it. Sacrifices must be made to the socialist ideology. That is the reality of the path to Nirvana and we must all accept it..
